This is the third ”Sloan Wine” tasting event, which originally started last September. In the first event, we enjoyed the wines of the Left Bank of Bordeaux, and of the Right Bank in the second event. This time, considering the season and the weather, we decided to enjoy crisp sparkling wines which are enjoyable during the hot, humid summer in Japan.

First, Ms. Konishi, managing director and wine specialist of Atago Konishi, gave us short lecture of the region Champagne, production process, serving manner, history of prosperity of the region, and anecdotes, we enjoyed the seven wines listed below.

First, we started out with Spanish CAVA, L’HEREU DE RAVENTOS BLANC, which we also enjoyed adding some cassis making it Kir Royal.

Then, we checked the taste of original grapes, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with the wines of HENRI DE VILLAMONT. Going back to sparkling wines, we then enjoyed Blanc de Blancs, literally white wine made of white grapes, CREMANT DE BOURGOGNE BALNC DE BALANCS. Then, we enjoyed three major Champagnes, NICOLAS FEUILLATTE, DRAPPIER loved by General Charles de Gaulle, and finally DEVAUX BALNC DE NOIR, white wine made of red grapes.
