  • THEME: Wines from right bank of Bordeaux
  • PARTICIPANTS: 7
  • TASTED WINE: 7 bottles

The second Sloan Wine Tasting Event was held at Atago Kobishi in the evening of Friday, April 24th

The first tasting event in last September was focused on the left bank of Bordeaux. We enjoyed rich, tannic wines from the left bank, such as Saint-Estephe, Pessac-Leognan, and Grave. This time, we tasted wines from Saint-Emilion, the right bank, which is basically based on smooth and round Merlot.

As some of the wine enthusiasts from the first event were out of town on their business trips, seven people joined the event. In addition to the five wines Ms. Konishi, a wine expert, carefully selected for the event, we enjoyed additional two, making the consumption close to one bottle per person. (YES, we enjoyed the food also, such as fillet of duck and Chevre cheese.)

Ms. Konishi, who holds "Chevalier du Tastevin" of Burgundy and "Commandeur du Bontemps" of Bordeaux, leads the event in a very friendly and casual manner, which makes the event enjoyable both for the biginner of wines and for the long time wine lovers. Alumni of MIT, Sloan, families, friends, and everybody are welcome for the event. We hope more people will join the event in the future.

For the next event, to be held sometime in July or in August, our plan is to enjoy Champagne and Chablis to enjoy beautiful summer. After that, we plan to go around in France, tasting wines from Burgundy, Rhone, Languedoc, etc.
